Blog 6: Education and public schools

Imagen
Public education is one of the biggest social problems today. The unequal distribution of public funds prevents the provision of free and quality education for people from lower social strata, even when it is considered as a right. This results in a series of secondary problems that greatly affect the lives of students who attend this type of education, with no other alternative: Insufficient academic results and below the average, increases the socioeconomic segregation that already exists, lack of comprehensive training of students, etc. In addition, not only students are involved in this social problem, teachers also suffer the consequences, such as the devaluation of the profession, the very low salaries and added to the precariousness of working conditions that discourage professional development in public schools. One of the consequences of this problem is that social mobility is severely limited, because education is one, if not the only, way that low-income people must scal...

My future job

Imagen
Have you ever seen the CSI series? Something like this would be my ideal job, although without the corpses. I would like to work in a sample analysis laboratory. I really like the idea of being locked in a laboratory, occupying the instruments, seeing the results. I'm not a very sociable person, that's why I don't like contact with the public, the fewer people around me, the better. I am not interested in earning a high salary, although money is something, we all need to survive, with enough to become independent I would be very happy. I would very much like to be able to travel, one of my dreams is to be able to go abroad to continue specializing my career and work in it, even for a defined time. I wish I could go to Germany or any country in Europe. My plan is to take electives in chemistry to be able to enter an analytical chemistry laboratory and do research units. It's rare that someone in my career is more interested in chemistry than research or more biol...

My kitty

The thing I love most in the world is my kitty. She has the most beautiful eyes in the universe. She's 9 years old, but it's like she's still a baby. It came to my life by surprise, her mother had her and her 4 brothers in my father's car, at first he did not want her in the house, but it ended up softening his heart. Only she and a sister survived, and we adopted them with their mother. Everyone thinks she's pregnant, but it's just her huge belly from eating too much. She likes ice cream and yogurt, but she hardly ever eats because he gets sick. When I'm sad, it's like I can guess that I need her for a hug. She loves to sleep close to my back or in her bed, near the window to let the wind in. She fills all my clothes with her hair, and I feel like it's a gift to always remember her, wherever I goes. It has one tusk bigger than the other, it sticks out and looks funny. She doesn't know how to go to the bathroom in her litter box, she always...

My profession

My lifelong dream was to be a scientist, since I participated in the first science fair at my school. I was the best in my course in science subjects, the teachers always said that I had a talent for science. I liked the idea of wearing a white apron and being surrounded by lots of test tubes. At first I planned to study something that would allow me to investigate, mainly about diseases and their cures, so I decided to study Biochemistry when I was 14. I kept that decision until I got into college. Now maybe I regret it a little bit, because I like it a lot more chemistry than biology, but I'm still studying this career because I still love it. The aspect I love most about studying this is that you never stop learning new things, and meeting admirable people who have a lot to teach. The part I like the most is when we can do lab internships and put into practice everything we learn in classes. While I really like theory, nothing compares to being able to mix substance...

The best (and only) concert I've ever been to

Imagen
It happened in 2015, I was a teenager by then, loved Sleeping with Sirens more than anything. Was my favorite band for years and they finally come to Chile for the first time. This band was one of the most famous in the "emo" scene of the time, have a post-hardcore style, with many guttural screams and sad lyrics. They had a musical career of five years, and they would come for the promotional tour of their fourth album called Madness. I loved the vocalist, Kellin Quinn, because I found him very handsome and his voice was very unique. I bought the tickets with inheritance money my grandmother left me, and even though I came later than I planned to the Cariola Theatre, because I couldn't miss school, I managed to sneak out until I reached the front row inside the even. I had to wait three hours until it started, but it was all completely worth it. I remember I was very crushed, and the people was trying t...

Blog 1: What country would I like to go to?

Imagen
One of my favorite countries is Germany. It is in Europe. I would very much like to study there, if I am given the opportunity to do so. I love this country for two great reasons: the first is because one of my favorite bands is from Germany, Rammstein, and they always start their tours in their native country. And the other reason is because the Gothic aesthetic is much more common, and it is considered a lifestyle. I have tried to learn a little German, but my pronunciation is very bad, so I will have to work hard if I want to emigrate one day. I would like to try the great variety of beers they have; it is one of my favorite drinks. I am a vegetarian so German food does not appeal to me, I guess it will be a problem while I live there. German architecture attracts me a lot, although I don't know much about the art behind it, visually I find it wonderful. Germany is a developed country, so I could make better progress in the career I am ...
